ReceiptHero partners with Dot Origin to bring VTAP NFC readers to retail
23.10.2025

ReceiptHero is excited to announce a partnership with Dot Origin, the UK based manufacturer of VTAP NFC Wallet readers. The collaboration enables ReceiptHero to deploy VTAP across retail environments, giving shoppers a slick wallet pass experience that links loyalty identification, redemption, and digital receipting in one seamless, app free flow. As part of the partnership, ReceiptHero is working to become an Apple Wallet and Google Wallet pass issuer on behalf of retailers, making deployments quicker and simpler.
“We are really excited to be working with ReceiptHero to drive much needed retail innovation for frictionless digital receipting and loyalty,” said Neil Garner, Chief Strategy Officer.
What retailers get
Tap to identify and redeem, VTAP brings loyalty out of the checkout queue and into entrances, service counters, click and collect, and carts, which lets members be recognized earlier, offers be applied, and redemptions be tracked against the transaction.
No apps, no QR codes, shoppers use branded Apple Wallet and Google Wallet loyalty cards that behave like a simple, secure tap.
Simple POS connectivity, VTAP connects like a barcode scanner over USB or Bluetooth Low Energy, with clear LED and audible feedback for staff.
Cloud routed loyalty events, VTAP Cloud Tap Gateway sends the loyalty ID to the right system, for dynamic rewards, couponing, clienteling, and click and collect, without heavy integrations.
Proven hardware at scale, over 74,000 VTAP readers are deployed in more than 40 countries, with flexible connectivity options, including USB, serial, WiFi, PoE, and Bluetooth for easy integration into any retail environment.
How the combined experience works
Member path, the shopper adds a retailer’s loyalty card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. They tap a VTAP reader at the checkout, their loyalty ID is recognized and routed through ReceiptHero’s system, and eligible rewards or coupons can be redeemed automatically. ReceiptHero pairs the transaction and delivers the digital receipt, then updates the wallet pass with stamps or points.
Receipt only path, shoppers who do not wish to add a wallet pass can still tap the reader to open their digital receipt in the browser, which keeps the experience inclusive while maintaining a low friction flow.
Ideal use cases, focused on redemption and receipt data
Offer and points redemption at tap, recognize members before payment, apply coupons or points, then confirm with visual and audible cues for staff. The redemption is captured and reflected in the digital receipt.
Stamp or punch cards, validate stamps on tap without PoS integration, then show status in the wallet pass and mirror it on the receipt for clarity.
Click and collect check in, identify the customer on arrival, link pickup to the order, and deliver the receipt digitally once fulfilled.
Turning receipts into actionable loyalty data
ReceiptHero’s digital receipts give retailers SKU level context for every redemption, which improves attribution and helps reduce breakage. By pairing wallet pass taps and receipt events, retailers can feed CRM and CDP systems with cleaner in store data, improve repurchase and upsell rates, and close the in store engagement gap that often leaves offline journeys under measured.
Availability
ReceiptHero will begin offering VTAP enabled deployments to retail customers immediately, with pilots and scaled rollouts available in EMEA and beyond. With ReceiptHero able to act as the pass issuer, retailers can move from pilot to estate wide activation more quickly.
