ReceiptHero Brings Its Digital Receipts to Nordea Wallet
6.6.2021
Nordea, the biggest bank across the Nordics, is officially going live with digital receipts in Finland. They will be made visible in the Nordea Wallet app, a place where customers manage their daily spending. Launching later this year, Nordea corporate customers will first receive access to this feature, with retail customers following soon after.
ReceiptHero sends real-time receipts to the Nordea Wallet app when a customer pays with their Nordea bank card at any of ReceiptHero’s retail partners, which so far includes hundreds of merchants, restaurants and Café’s across Finland. With an environmental concern attached, paper receipts have for a long time been the only option to show proof of purchase. Opting out of your paper receipt can save millions of trees, and litres of oil and water, which are unnecessarily printed and lead to billions of paper receipts going into the trash. Nordea with ReceiptHero are fighting back.
The Nordea and ReceiptHero integration is the first major bank partnership to go live with digital receipts in the Nordics. ReceiptHero has previously distributed receipts to accounting softwares, Facebook Messenger & via email. The integration allows for better customer experience showing receipts next to card purchases within the Nordea Wallet app. For corporate customers this makes expense reporting a lot smoother. Now there is no need for taking scans of paper receipts and manually sending them to the accountant. And for retail customers they can feel comfortable knowing they are doing their part for the environment.
Nordea and ReceiptHero share a joint vision for a digital only future. On one hand Nordea is committed to a digital only banking experience whilst ReceiptHero is on a mission to enrich receipt data and take them totally digital.
Tomi Hakari, Senior Business Developer at Nordea Bank, said:
“We think the ability to digitise your receipts, as provided by ReceiptHero, will give our customers greater insight into their spending, and a less cluttered financial life. Having ReceiptHero join us to build out this proposition is an exciting step into the future of finance. Our goal is to scale eReceipt use to same levels that cashless payments are today in Finland.”
Joel Ojala, CEO at ReceiptHero, said:
“We truly believe ReceiptHero can bring the most significant innovation in retail payments since contactless. With banking partners we can deliver eReceipts to millions of consumers near future. This has created huge demand on Retail as well to transform to digital receipts as fast as possible. Hopefully Finland will be the first country that stops printing these useless paper receipts.
