Replanting the Global Forest With One Tree Planted
07.06.2021
ReceiptHero is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with One Tree Planted, an environmental charity with a focus on global reforestation.
As a digital receipts platform, we are truly against the use of deforestation as a means to distribute paper receipts, especially as most of them are immediately thrown away. As more Banks, POS vendors, Payment Service Providers and retailers partner with us for truly digital receipts, we have chosen to incentivise retail partners to participate in our initiative by planting trees in return for their valuable commitment to digitalising their receipts.
Simply put, trees help clean the air we breathe. They filter the water we drink, and provide shelter for over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Not just that, forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people. Without our forests the planet would not be able to absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, rendering humanity extinct. In short, they are critical for a sustainable future.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with One Tree Planted and to integrate tree planting into our business. It goes without saying that cutting down 100’s of millions of trees a year just to produce paper receipts, is just ridiculous and it needs to stop. We hope that by donating to One Tree Planted we can do our part by reforesting critical areas of the planet. Our goal is to plant one million trees by 2025.” Joel Ojala, ReceiptHero CEO.
ReceiptHero believes that attacking this problem from both sides, reducing the need for paper receipts at point of sale, but also replanting trees which might have been cut down previously for receipts is the best way to tackle sustainability.
